Richard4 Howitt
and Alice Tunnard
Alice was born Jan 1798 in Kirton, England about 18 miles east of Folkingham Daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hullitt) Tunnard. She married Richard4 Howitt on June 20, 1820 in Folkingham. Richard was born 13 Jan 1799 in Folkingham and died after nineteen years of marriage in 1839, leaving Alice with eight children.
Alice's mother-in-law, Sarah Howitt, (Richard A.3) had been in ill health for many years, so in June of 1839, Alice and her three daughters, Ann, Mary, and Sarah moved into the home to help maintain it for Richard. Her daughter Sarah died, as did Alice's mother-in-law, in 1940. The 1851 census for Lincolnshire County showed the Howitts living on Market Place. Alice stayed on there to take care of things until her father-in-law died in October of 1859. Alice then went to live with her daughter and son-in-law Thomas and Ann Musson until her death in February of 1867.
